First, it produces 99.5% Copper Anode from Copper concentrate which is extracted from Copper Ore through the process of smelting. Then, it produces 99.99% pure Electrolytic Copper Cathode from Copper Anode through the process of electrolytic refining. In addition, with other elements extracted from Copper concentrate such as iron, sulfur, gold and silver, it also produces LS-Ferrosand through smelting, various chemical products through a chemical process and high purity precious metals through a precious metal process. Furthermore, LS-Nikko makes products from every element, as well as Copper, so that it does not create any wastewater or other environmental pollution. Therefore, it is the only domestic Copper smelting and refining company, which accomplishes both high added value and environmentally friendly production at the same time. The Anodes made using the Outokumpo Flash Smelting Process and the Mitsubishi Continuous Process becomes 99.99% pure Electrolytic Copper Cathode (Grade 'A' in the LME) through Electrolysis. Electrolytic Copper Anode's high levels of electrical conductivity, heat conductivity, formability and corrosion resistance give it a wide range of applications. This company currently has the capacity to produce a total 510,000 tons of electrolytic copper cathode a year.  Water granulated LS-ferrosand is widely used as a ferrous raw material for cement, aggregates for ready-mixed concrete and bricks, a abrasive for sandblast and filling material for caisson in civil engineering because it has high concentration of ferrous elements, stabilized chemical features and a uniform bead size. LS-Ferrosand is also safe for the environment, which means that it can easily be adopted by construction companies and civil engineers, as aggregates that will replace the natural aggregates used today. Onsan Smelter & Refinery, in particular, is noteworthy because it is the only plant in the in the world that produces pure sulfuric acid by using sulfur dioxide gas generated during the the copper smelter process. Onsan Smelter & Refinery produces sulfuric acid,pure sulfuric acid for semiconductor, liquid sulfur trioxide, liquid sulfur trioxde, liquid sulfur dioxide, gypsum and liquid argon. Precious metals, such as gold, silver, and palladium with purities of  99.99%, that are produced in the last process of copper smelting are used in various areas, such as industrial raw materials since they have high levels of electrical and heat conductivity, corrosion resistance as well as being used for accessories and high class art. Especially, our gold, which we process the most of in Korea, is registered with the LBMA (London Bullion Market Association) and with TOCOM (Tokyo Commodity). Our silver is also registered with the LBMA.
